Hunter Valley

First planted in the early 19th century, the Hunter Valley initially carved out its reputation with top-quality Chardonnay. But it was the white Bordeaux variety Sémillon that put the area on the international wine map. About 100 miles north of Sydney, the Hunter Valley is characterized by its uniquely low-lying, relatively cool, humid climate. This brings out extraordinary levels of ripeness in the Sémillon grape while keeping alcohol levels moderate. The Hunter is also famed for its world-class Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Verdejo.
